#OCCUPYWALLSTREET keeps on growing. Today marked the largest protest since the start of the movement, exactly a week ago. Signs are mounting that the authorities are starting to get increasingly anxious about the potential of the protests to spin “out of control” and go viral.
And so today, just days after Mayor Bloomberg assured protesters they would be “free to express their opinion”, the NYPD went into Mubarak mode, attacking peaceful protesters and making mass arrests of law-abiding citizens for the sole purpose of repressing political dissent. Undoubtedly, as happened in Barcelona before, the police repression will only further reinvigorate the protests.
Organizers claim that at least 80 were arrested and multiple people maced and kettled by police, including innocent bystanders, a number of photographers and also protest organizers — in direct violation of the constitutional right to the freedom of the press, of popular assembly and of political protest.
Once more, the real face of American democracy is revealed through these powerful images by Paul Weiskel. Not a single banker has been arrested for crashing the world economy in 2008, but by now, dozens of law-abiding citizens are in locked up in police stations around New York simply for expressing their inconvenient opinion.

Samy, I am so sorry our country has done terrible things to the peoples of other nations. This is very grievous. Our world is changing because of the embrace of the Wicked One. I am a worshiper of Yeshua HaMashiach, and He has shown me things to come. I have seen Him cry over the things that are coming, and I have even had to go to bed from the sickness of seeing those things that are approaching, not just us, but the whole world. You are correct about many things. I am a reader of history, and find that those who conquer usually then become like those they kill. The French revolution is a good example that comes to mind. Those people overcame the evil ones and in the end became like the those they killed. I see many bad terrible things coming. Heart breaking things, things that will break the human spirit. I hope to go home soon and be with God and His Son rather than live through the worst that is coming.

I feel so sorry for these young people who have to learn the hard way that this is not a democracy and the police are not there to protect your constitutional rights. They are there to keep order and protect corporations. Only by everyone finally saying ‘enough’ will anything change.
I think they should sue the NYPD and the city in a class-action suit. I’d even go after Bloomberg for breach of verbal contract as he did not follow through with his promise that citizens would be “free to express their opinion”. I think it is time for the people to rise up, be heard and take back control.
