Filiberto Penados is a Maya activist-scholar with a focus on Indigenous future-making and investigator on the British Academy-Heritage, Dignity, Violence grant that supported this work. He has a long history of involvement in Indigenous movements in Central America, co-founded the Tumul K’in Centre of Learning, and is President of the Julian Cho Society.
