Joris Leverink

Joris Leverink is an Istanbul-based political analyst, freelance writer and activist. He is an editor for ROAR Magazine, columnist for teleSUR English and Turkey-contributor for the IPS news agency. He blogs at Deciphering Disorder.

He has an academic background in cultural anthropology and political economy, and is particularly interested in matters relating to indigenous freedom struggles, political violence, and radical alternatives to the current politico-economic status quo.

His articles, focusing on topics as diverse as autonomous workers struggles, press freedom in Turkey, the Malian civil war and refugee resistance in Germany, have been published by a wide range of digital media, translated in over a dozen different languages and have appeared in print in Dutch, German, English and Turkish.
