Yesenia Barragan

Yesenia Barragan is a PhD Candidate in Latin American History at Columbia University, where she studies slavery, abolition, and emancipation in Colombia and the Americas, in addition to neoliberalism and social movements in Latin America. She is currently a monthly columnist for TeleSUR English reporting on social movements and popular culture in the Americas.

She has published articles in Anamesa: An Interdisciplinary Journal, Negritud: Journal of Afro-Latin American Studies, The Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography (Oxford University Press, 2014), and The End of the World As We Know It? Crisis, Resistance, and the Age of Austerity (AK Press, 2014).
