The year 2019 is shaping up to be a very exciting one for ROAR, and we kick it off with an important announcement: ROAR is partnering up with the Amsterdam-based Transnational Institute!
TNI is an international research and advocacy institute that supports and collaborates with social movements. For more than 40 years, it has served as a unique nexus between political activists, engaged scholars and policy makers. Regular collaborations between ROAR and TNI date back to 2012. The recent formalization of our partnership is designed to intensify that collaboration moving forward, and to mutually reinforce our respective pursuits of common goals.
In practice, the new partnership will involve TNI providing ROAR with part of its core funding for 2019, which will allow us to pay one of our editors a part-time living wage so they can commit to scanning submissions, publishing regular content and taking care of the administrative side of things. In return, ROAR will provide TNI with editorial support and a platform to disseminate some of the institute’s cutting-edge studies on corporate power, democracy and social movements.
It speaks for itself that ROAR will maintain full editorial independence and will continue to publish the same type of high-quality content you’ve grown accustomed to over the years.
A special thanks to Nick Buxton, Fiona Dove and Daniel Chavez for their support in making this partnership a reality!
In solidarity,
Jerome & Joris
